“In” or just getting Old?

I am either really “in” right now, or maybe I’m just getting old. My g33kness has gone to a whole new level (I think). I’m currently reading “The Knitting Circle” for my BookClub, and it’s a great book so far. However, I find myself wanting to… learn. to. knit. That’s right, I said it. When I was a young girl, I used to love to watch my grandma and her twin crochet. I wanted to learn so badly. I actually got fairly good (for my age) and could crochet a long chain and even a potholder if I tried really hard. I also, would do liquid embroidery with my mom. I can’t find the good liquid stuff anymore, it’s been replaced with those cross-stitch items that I never could get the hang of. Of course, that ‘craftiness’ was replaced quickly with the new video games that were coming out. After all, who could resist the pixel graphics of the Atari? That’s right; I played games “back then”. The video games today are like mini-movies… and some have a full-on movie incorporated in between the levels of play. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve bought into the high-definition graphics game systems of today as well. I felt the draw of the X-Box and the Playstation-2. Because, you know… I wanted to ’step up’ from the Nintendo. So anyway, back to this book. In the book, the main character, Mary, mentions that knitting is ‘hot’ now. And it got me to thinking. Maybe, just maybe, I could make knitting and liquid embroidery “hot” again. Not that I have that kind of influence, but, it would be interesting to try. I miss the crafty days with my mom and grandma, and creating *something* from nothing. Hmmm, maybe a trip to Hobby Lobby is in my near future. Of course, I’d have to learn how to knit first. Oh, and perl too. ~ha~
